Dream black shrimp (often sold as Black Sakura Shrimp or Black Rose Shrimp) are stunning freshwater dwarf shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) known for their deep, solid black exoskeleton. They require temperatures of 65°F to 80°F, a pH of 6.4 to 7.8, and thrive in well-planted aquariums with light-colored substrates so their colors pop.
Because they are highly active scavengers, they require clean water with 0 ppm ammonia/nitrite and nitrates below 20 ppm.
Diet: Omnivorous, feeding mostly on biofilm and algae. Supplement with quality shrimp pellets or blanched vegetables like zucchini. Avoid all foods and fertilizers that contain copper.
Substrate & Plants: Keep them in tanks with live plants and hiding spaces. Avoid black sand or dark substrates if you want to be able to easily see and enjoy them.
Tank Mates: Excellent for community tanks with other small, non-aggressive fish and dwarf shrimp.
